A Learjet 60 crashed near a roadway in Greenacres, Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, November 1, killing all nine people aboard, U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said. The plane was traveling from Austin, Texas, to the Bahamas.
Air-traffic recordings captured the crew reporting ice buildup and turbulence, then declaring an emergency as the aircraft descended rapidly. Those radio calls document what the crew reported in its final moments. Investigators have not determined what caused the crash, and the recording alone does not establish a cause.
The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation with support from the Federal Aviation Administration. A joint statement from the passengers’ families named the seven people traveling in the cabin on November 2; authorities had not released a full official roster. Florida’s governor said there were no immediate reports of anyone on the ground injured or killed.
Who was aboard: November 2 family statement
A joint statement from the passengers’ families identified the seven passengers as tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson; his wife, Helen Sharp; their children Emma Robinson, 4, and Charlie Robinson, 2; family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr; and the children’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina. The statement was posted by the families and reported by Gray News and the Associated Press. It is a family identification, not a released official coroner roster.
TMZ separately reported that a family member identified the captain as Jeff Gregory, 55. Camila Corteleti told the New York Post and New York Times that her daughter, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, 20, was the co-pilot. Filgueiras earned her pilot’s license at 17 through a school aviation program, according to Associated Press reporting. Her age and training do not establish the cause of the crash.
Federal investigators are examining the wreckage. Their work has not established a cause. Wick will update the names and circumstances when further identifications and findings are confirmed.
The crash and its aftermath were captured in video shared online. The Wick Worldwide’s earlier video showed the scene; our new video includes the reported final radio calls. We will update this story as investigators release confirmed findings and identify the victims.
