A preliminary autopsy identified accidental chest trauma as a possible cause of death for Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, Antena 3 reported, citing sources familiar with the investigation. De Miguel, 30, died Nov. 3, a day after colliding with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a match in Spain.
Tenerife said De Miguel went into cardiac arrest after the collision. The court investigating his death received the preliminary autopsy report and authorized the transfer of his remains to mainland Spain for burial, EFE reported. The court kept the report confidential out of respect for De Miguel and his family.
Spain’s National Police opened an investigation after his death. The reported chest trauma finding is preliminary.
